A bitterly cold easterly wind and the odd flake of snow did not stop our workers today, an excellent turnout considering the conditions. We managed to fix the broken fence at the end of Moore's lane, do a bit more on the fence around the wild wood, put some "DO NOT ENTER" notices around the wild wood, some more coppicing, put some mulch around the new trees in the B&B area, the new trees planted last week behind the church were given some water and compost, finally as Waveney Norse had cut the railway path on Monday, a group of us went over there to do a little "tidying up".
With coffee today, we had hot sausage rolls, hot veggie (cheese & onion) rolls and cake! All from Peter and Marion to celebrate their birthdays, last month and the month before (it's tough getting a cake slot this time of year!).
David mentioned several things, most importantly that next week we will be working in Foxburrow Wood, MEET 9am AT CROME WALK. We have several jobs to do there and we will have coffee over there afterwards. David has met the new manager at Pleasurewood Hills, who has kindly offered to continue their sponsorship of GWCP. The final balance for the Cotswold holiday is due on March 1st! Waveney Norse cut the railway path for us on Monday and David has a meeting with them on the 27th to discuss any changes in the council/WN/GWCP relationship and a few other issues about Gunton Wood.
