A breezy, cloudy day and it's half-term but we still had a good turn out, including one new member. We had a few of the men helping John & Julie in the wildflower meadow, clearing up a fallen tree, pulling up dock weeds and strimming the edges. Some more teasels were planted in the B&B area. We had a large group chipping paths, at the moment all the paths are looking good. We had a few people clearing path edges with scythes and hoes, the Stubbs Wood entrance from the play area was cleared as it tends to get overgrown with nettles and brambles in summer. Some of the men went to try and clear the pipe leading from the ditch to the pond as we do not seem to be getting water through and the pond seems to be rather "dead", it looks like the problem was the dam not working too well so the water was not reaching the level of the pipe to feed the pond. We now think that extending the pipe to further up the ditch may be the answer, maybe a job for next week or the week after.
With coffee today we had a lovely birthday cake (with candles!) and a selection of other cakes from Betty for a special birthday next week. Happy Birthday Betty (bumps next week!).
David introduced our new member, Christine, to the group. He also informed us that the railway path had recently been cut by Waveney Norse and was looking superb, they plan to do another cut in July and again in September.
