Weather-wise this morning was an excellent day for working in the wood. David set about emptying and tidying the sheds and putting up a shelf that had been laying there for 20 years! Now doesn't that make you feel better about that job you've put off for a while. Some of the ladies went off to work in the ditch again! What is it about splashing about in the mud? One group went off with loppers to do some coppicing and another group checked the young trees at the back of the church, replacing stakes, guards where necessary and replacing a few dead trees with newly arrived limes and silver birch.
With coffee today, we had hot sausage rolls and a lovely homemade Victoria sponge and chocolate cake from Christine to celebrate her birthday.
David had plenty to say today, we hope to be doing the bird boxes next week, weather permitting, and one Thursday soon we will go to Foxburrow to work as we now have some new wire mesh for the boardwalks and there are a few other jobs that need doing there. He mentioned how well the annual meal had gone last Thursday; he also mentioned that this year would be the 20th AGM which led on to briefly mentioning the 2018 calendar, our 20th. This also led on to David making a joke, which no doubt Rosemary will make him pay for later! David, Chris and Mo are due to have a meeting with Pleasurewood Hills on Monday to discuss sponsorship and finally, a local primary school have been in touch asking if we had any unwanted branches for making dens.
