Today, because of school holidays, our numbers were swelled by those who can only make it along at these times. We had a surprise visit from Spencer, who left us a few years ago to go and study astro-physics at Hull university, we were very glad to see him as we had a lot of very large logs to shift! We also had a smattering of grandchildren (Oscar, Will, Alyssa) and young Max brought both his mum (Liz) and his dad (James) along. With so many workers we managed to achieve a great deal, removing wood from the pond and repairing the fence around the pond was a job several wanted to get stuck in to. We had some very large logs left for us by Waveney Norse last week, so we shifted as many as we could down to the pond area to use as path edging. The chippings that Waveney Norse had left for us in small heaps on the paths, were spread out evenly over the paths. The new young trees in the nursery were planted out individually and watered in. New plants were planted in the B&B area and they also were watered in. We continued pulling/digging up alexanders, we nearly have these under control now compared with a couple of years ago. Rosemary did a litter pick around the wood, something we will try and do from time to time as the spring litter pick was cancelled. A gang went over to the railway path to make sure the path is kept in a walkable condition and not too overgrown. Also, the fence cross member behind the coffee table had snapped while children were playing on it (thankfully nobody was hurt), it was quite rotten inside, so we replaced and strengthened it. We're fairly confident it will withstand the little uns swinging on it now. And that was it, a lot achieved but still plenty left to do next week. See you all at the AGM on Wednesday!
With coffee today we had hot sausage rolls, hot cheesy rolls, a lovely homemade (by Rosemary) cake and as it is nearly Easter, hot hot-X-buns - delicious. All to celebrate Colin T's birthday back in March.
David reminded us of the AGM coming up on Wed 19th April at the school and that him and Rosemary will miss three Thursday workparties in May. He also mentioned that the trip to Southwold on James's double decker bus would be on Saturday Aug 5th.
