An excellent AGM last night, Wednesday April 19th, about 44 members turned up at 7pm for a 7.30 start. Apart from the usual reports we had a guest speaker who showed a slide show of Lowestoft, now and then. A selection of very old views of areas of Lowestoft, each one followed immediately with a photo taken from the same point today. It was surprising how many of the audience could remember the old views and buildings. We also had a brief talk from Suffolk Wildlife Trust about their campaign to raise a million pounds to buy a large area of marshes adjoining Carlton marshes. They are also in the process of applying for a 4.1 million pound lottery grant to provide facilities at the site, making it one of the largest and important sites in the country. The meeting finished at 9.40pm, a really good social evening.
