A super morning weather-wise, which seemed to put us all in a very relaxed mood but there's always lots to do at this time of year. With everything growing so quickly now, it tends to be all hands to the pump to keep things under control. We worked on clearing around the main gate entrance as it was getting very overgrown, overhanging branches are another problem this time of year as are the path edges which we try not to let get too overgrown. Apart from that there was the all-year-round job of chipping paths, clearing the ditch of blockages, we had two lots of broken/missing railings to deal with and some work to do on Vinnie's bridge. Vinnie's bridge turned out to be in a worse state than we thought and will need some major repairs when we get the materials.
With coffee today we had a lovely selection of homemade (made by Jenny) cakes and scones to celebrate Yvon's birthday yesterday - delicious!
David updated us on how the funding was going for the main path resurfacing, he also talked about the final details for the Cotswolds trip tomorrow. He explained that as John, the web manager, would be away till the end of July, there would be no updates on FaceBook and no photos uploaded until then. Although, David would pick up and send any GWCP emails and Peter will hopefully keep the website up-to-date for us. At 11am we all observed a 1 minute silence for the terrible tragic event that had occurred in Manchester this week.
