A warm and humid morning that threatened rain did not dampen our spirits, we had several teams working today. There was some chipping of Moore’s Lane using the tractor and trailer as well as using the wheel barrows. John and Julie Moore pulled and cut dock weed and hogweed from the meadow down Moore's lane. Another group had the ladder out again to cut ivy above head height, we only cut ivy where we feel it would cause the tree to fall in strong winds (sail effect) and we leave the lower part of the ivy for birds, butterflies and bees. A fence post was replaced at the bottom of Moore’s Lane, we have another to do. A large log was found for the post and the tractor was used to transport it to where it was needed. The ladies worked hard clearing a large space near our sheds for a new shed coming mid August. Christine worked clearing more of the hedge near the school fence. Clearing nettles from path edges by hand continued as did clearing weeds from around young trees. 2 bird boxes, which were found lying on the ground, were repaired and put back on the tree from which they had fallen.
Cakes today were provided by Liz, James and young Max who helped make them. Easter Bunnies today! Our thanks (and maybe a new calendar!) go to them as they could not be with us today.
David in his “listen up” thanked Liz, James and Max Denny for the cakes. He reminded the group that there was no workparty next week as we will all be going to How Hill. He handed out Fliers for the Fish & Chips Bingo evening on September 7th. The Big Red Bus trip was also offered as a reminder.
As mentioned last week, the Special General Meeting was held. Details of the 2 proposal changes to our Constitution were read out and a vote taken. There were 34 members in attendance, the votes were as follows :- 34 in favour of the change and none against. The motion was therefore carried.
