We had a good turn out today, despite the threat of rain, and we needed a good turn out as we were to hold a Special General Meeting at coffee time. Before that we had work to do, there were more logs to shift from the wildflower meadow to be used as path edging within the wood. Also, the smaller spoils from the willows were moved into the nearby copse to be used later when we close the copse off. Old path edging was also moved into the copse to form a rotten wood pile. We had some heaps of good soil that had been scraped off the main path when it was resurfaced and several barrow loads of it were taken down to the wildflower meadow to fill in the holes left by the willow trees when they blew over. There was much tidying up around the wood, work in the B&B area, pulling up alexanders, pulling up nettles from the path edges, clearing out the ditch, litter picking along the ditch and the fencing work around the pond continued. We did have on our list to fit the sump into the ditch but the area where it is to be concreted in was still wet, so that job was postponed until we get a drought!
With coffee today we had a lovely selection of cakes and sausage rolls provided by David (with a lot of help from Rosemary) as it was his birthday today. We had a special present for David - see below.
David did the "listen up" and after thanking himself for the cakes he then went through the work we had achieved today. He talked about the holiday in the Lakes last week and how well everything had gone, several people want to go back to the same hotel again another year. He then gave us a brief outline of future trips. After his "listen up" he handed over to the secretary, Peter, for the Special General Meeting.
SGM - Peter read out the proposed changes to the GWCP Constitution which included a late request to slightly change the order of the articles in the document. Peter explained the reasons behind the changes and then we voted. There were 35 members present, 33 voted for the amendments and there were no votes against the amendments. Having agreed the amendments, Peter then went on to ask for nominations for the new post of Honorary President. David was elected unopposed - Happy Birthday!
Wally was not out this week so, sadly, there are no photos.
