Today we had 10 members doing a First Aid refresher course in the church annex from 9.30 to 11.30am. This left very few working in the woods today, but those who were, worked very hard to make up for those who were not available. There were two main jobs today - shifting logs and chipping paths. With two new large piles of chippings to spread and it being such a long time since any were spread, people were keen to start. We found that using the leaf blower to clear the leaves off the path before chipping was much quicker and easier than raking them. Colin used the blower and the chipping gang struggled to keep up with him. Although, later we had a sheltered housing group join us to help with chipping. All the logs recently cut up were collected and brought to the coffee area using the tractor & trailer or the trolley dolly. The work on the new plan for Moore's Lane continued and the last 6 bird boxes were numbered. Although, the bird boxes were done after coffee.
With coffee today we had hot mini pasties, sausage rolls & homemade cakes provided by Wally and cooked by Rosemary. Those on the first aid course also enjoyed the homemade cakes.
As David was on the course there was a more communal "Listen Up" and Chrissie took notes, the work achieved today was listed. Rosemary thanked Wally for the cakes today and reminded those who were going on the Bury St Edmund's trip on the 29th Nov to be outside the rectory by 9.45 PROMPT otherwise they would be left behind!
There will be a Saturday workparty this Saturday, meeting at 9am at Crome Walk and working in Foxburrow.
The 10 members who attended the British Red Cross first aid course thought it was extremely useful and they felt much more confident afterwards. It has been a year since the previous course.
