Not too many out today but we were surprised anyone made it with the strong wind and threat of more rain. The fencing gang got started on replacing a section of broken fencing near our coffee area. Several people went down Moore's Lane to continue the work on the hedge and even managed to get the heavy old hedge trimmer working. We have had carburetor problems with it recently. The chipping gang started with just two ladies but gradually increased to five with a few latecomers joining them. With the recent rain this is getting to be a very important job right now although the chipping pile is going down rapidly. Finally, John & Paul continued the path edging work near the pond.
With coffee today we had a lovely selection of cakes from one of the many Davids, David Barwick. Unfortunately, David was not able to be with us today or for the next few weeks. Good luck David, we all wish you well.
David did the listen up and went through the work we had been doing today then he thanked David B for the cakes and explained why he was not here to enjoy them. While mentioning the chipping that had been done today he did say that he would try to get some more chippings from WN as we are already getting low. He talked about a Saturday workparty this weekend if the weather is OK. It will be in Foxburrow, finishing off the tree inspection work for this year. Meeting in Crome Walk at 9am. After Christmas we will try and get a Thursday workparty for Foxburrow as there is plenty of work to do there. David said the notice he had put up at the main gate had generated 6 calendar sales, there are now only 14 left! David gave us a brief report on the trip to the Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre last Saturday. He didn't think we would do the trip again as it was too busy. However, they had a good time apart from Brenda who fell and broke her wrist which is now in plaster! He finished by asking those going to the meal in January to please let Rosemary know their meal choices soon.
