Today we had good weather for working, not too hot, not too cold and it stayed dry for us. Several went down to Moore's Lane to finish off cutting the hedge between the wildflower meadow and the field. We took the hedgetrimmer although it'd difficult to use for long because of the weight. We also took lots of loppers as well and we did manage to finish the job. Colin also continued planting the hedge at the other end of Moore's Lane. David had been given a sack of daff & crocus bulbs, from Waveney Norse, so we planted some of them around the wood. Chipping paths continued using the tractor & trailer and wheelbarrows. The paths are in a bad state at the moment so this work will continue until all the paths are done or we run out of chippings. Path edging work continued down near the pond and will continue until we run out of logs. The fence work near the coffee area was completed.
With coffee today we had two treats - scones with jam & cream from David Barwick, sadly David was unable to be with us today. We also had mince pies in memory of June Sedgley, provided by Rosemary & Carol. June used to bring mince pies along on the first Thursday in December and this started the idea of biscuits/cakes with coffee each week.
David did the listen up today and explained about the scones and the mince pies, he then went on to list the work we had done today. He spoke about the trip to Snape on Saturday and reminded those going that the coach will leave from Gunton Church Lane at 10am sharp. Despite David and many others being on the trip this Saturday there will be a Saturday workparty, weather permitting. Colin will be finishing off the tree inspection work, cutting down 3 trees in Foxburrow Wood.
