Today was the last workparty before Christmas and the gang were in festive mood. However, there was plenty to do but we had young Will, on his Christmas break, to give us a hand. Chipping paths was high on the list as most of the side paths are in a poor state. We had 2 gangs working, one finishing off last weeks path from the well to the main gate and another team on the path leading to woodhenge, we had the tractor and trailer out taking chippings down to woodhenge. We had been contacted by the church about a large tree leaning towards the church annexe. David organised for Waveney Norse to inspect it and they will reduce the height of it in the new year. The tree was covered in ivy so, as a stop-gap measure, the fencing gang went off to remove the ivy from it in case we get any strong winds before WN reduce it. The Saturday gang were out last Friday and Saturday cutting down trees in Gunton Wood and Pleasurewood Hill's wood. The logs from these were brought up to the coffee area to be used as path edging. For this we had the tractor and flatbed trailer out. The path edging gang were out again working on the sidepath from the pond to the main gate. Finally, Tony was called in to action to shift a large branch that had fallen across the path causing dog walkers to have to step over it.
With coffee today we had various lovely homemade cakes, warm mince pies and hot sausage rolls to celebrate Rosemary's birthday. I've just remembered, we forgot to give her the bumps! Oh well, maybe next year.
David, thanked Rosemary for the cakes and then listed the work we had done today. He reminded us that the next workparty will be Thurs Jan 3rd 2019! He mentioned that there would be more tree work to do for Pleasurewood Hills in the new year and that Anglian Water will be back on Jan 2nd to finish off their work and to make good the bridge into the field.
