Despite it being damp and misty with light rain we had a good number turn up for work today. We had a sick cherry tree that we have been monitoring for the last few years and it was decided to cut it down, we removed the side branches first and then cut the trunk down to about 3ft. There is a possibilty it may shoot again but we shall see. The main path was raked and swept to remove the dead leaves which were rotting and turning into mud. We had new heaps of chippings so we chipped the path from Gunton Church Lane to Murllio Drive. The layering of the hawthorn hedge continued. The work on the willows down Moore's lane continued.
With coffee we had homemade sausage rolls, chocolate brownies and mince pies. All made by Rosemary for her special birthday today! David then surprised Rosemary with a large birthday cake which had a picture on it of David & Rosemary. The cake was cut and with it David provided bucks fizz for us to toast Rosemary. Many Happy Returns, Rosemary - now you're as young as David!
David thanked Rosemary for the sausage rolls, choc brownies and mince pies. He detailed what work had been carried out today and then asked if the group would like to work off the Christmas excess next Thursday, a few said Yes. We wait to see. He ended by wishing all a Happy Christmas.
