A low turnout today as we started in the rain. The priority job of sorting out the broken seat & table in Moore's lane was put on hold as we had a newspaper photographer coming later to take some photos of the damage. However, during the week we had some road planings delivered at the main gate. So, the main job was getting these shifted and laid along the muddy side of the main path. This was done but we still have some muddy patches left, so hopefully we can get some more planings for next week. After this we started chipping some of the side paths. Some finished off clearing an Elder tree and more work was done on the pond where we think we have 4 goldfish!
With coffee today we had a lovely selection of cakes provided by Brian (made by Jackie!) for his birthday 3 months ago. Jackie had made the cakes 3 months ago but it rained on that day so there was no workparty. Since then Brain has munched his way through that batch, so a new batch was brought out and this seemed to bring out the rain again. Fortuantely, we worked through the rain and the cakes were enjoyed by all, which we were all pleased about and so was Brian's waistline!
The damaged table and bench in Moore's lane, although rotten and a bit wobbly, has been reported to the Police. It was also photographed for an article in the local newspaper.
