A lovely day today and although we were a bit low on numbers we managed to get several jobs done. We finished cutting the hedge between the wildflower meadow and PwH's field, the ladies started checking the ditch for obstructions and will continue this next week, a lot of duckweed was removed from the pond and we made a start on some of the work picked up in the tree inspection. During the tree inspection we identified a "sick" cherry tree which we have been keeping an eye on for the last 2 years, we were advised to clear around the tree as it may be lack of light causing the problem, a team cleared the area today and used some of the spoils, hazel branches, to repair the damaged fence around the pond. Another item from the tree inspection was a young oak tree that had 2 main trunks, if left this would cause the tree to split at the join, we removed the thinner of the 2 trunks and this will be used as path edging.
With coffee today we had a lovely selection of cakes from our coffee fund that several people have donated to, a true case of many thanks!
No David today although we had a brief text from him wishing us all well and saying what a lovely time he was having, we did reply but Rosemary had confiscated his phone by then! Barry told the story of how we managed to get a tractor donated to us (with a Hayter mower thrown in), although the tractor is not working at the moment we do hope to have it fixed very soon. John mentioned that we had been offered free wildflower seeds and 200 spring-flowering bulbs (£5.65 postage on bulbs), John offered to forward on the email to any members interested. John also announced that we had made £186 profit on the Bingo Fish & Chips night last Thursday, the majority of that coming from the raffle of which there were an abundance of excellent prizes donated. Also, now that Autumn is almost here, coffee time would go back to 10.30 from next Thursday.
