A large turnout today, most of us went to the B&B area and wildflower meadow to cut back the shrubs and finish strimming the B&B area, to mow the meadow on a fine cut, start cutting back the hedge around the meadow and generally rake up and dispose of any cuttings. Some went into the ditch near the pond to clear the undergrowth in preparation for a new pipe to be laid next Wednesday morning. We had two young helpers today, Max (a seasoned veteran) and young Will (first timer), well done to both, we nicknamed Will "speedy" as he dashed around full of energy putting us all to shame, Max managed to do quite a bit of the work in the meadow despite an injured leg!
With coffee today we had a lovely selection of cakes made by Max (with maybe a little help from Mum) to celebrate the end of the school holidays !!! Hmmm, not one I used to celebrate when I was young but perfectly willing to now :-)
David announced about the tree inspection next Tuesday (9.30 at main gate), a workparty next Wednesday morning to lay the water pipe in the ditch, he reminded us all that next Thursday we will be working in Foxburrow Wood - clearing ditches and sweeping boardwalks. For social events, he mentioned the Bingo Fish & Chips night next Thurs (if you have anything for a raffle prize please bring it on the night), Snape visit in December and next year's holiday to the Cotswolds in May.
