The recent hot spell has taken its toll on the wood. There is a sign of an early autumn on the ground with the undergrowth dying back. We need some rain badly. The promised thunder storm with heavy rain has proved a non event with just a sprinkle of rain.
We had a good team out today there were different teams working as usual.
A team was chipping the side paths. Another was fencing near the nature board. The main job was to help John and Julie Moore cut the side paths down Moore's lane. We had 3 mowers and a strimmer working also cutting back with shears and scythes.
Janet and Carol cleared around the B & B trees some of which needed higher stakes. Another group was cutting back the side paths around by hand.
David in his “listen up” Thanked Paul Crawley for covering the worn tractor seat he had made an expert job. He also gave some good news to the group about grant applications for the work on the main path down towards PWHs The Suffolk Foundation has awarded us £2000.00. The local councilors have promised anther £2000.00 together with Gunton Hall's £500.00 that makes £4500.00 out of the £5200.00. We have had the money from PWH's £1000.00 so we are well placed to go ahead with the project. The Rights of Way team can probably place the order for us with the contractor thus saving the VAT content of the contract.
Cakes today were provided by Tony.
