6th.June 2019 (75th. anniversary of D-day)
It was another bright morning and there was a reasonable turn out.
At the shed members quickly divided into various groups, Colin took the brush cutter across to Foxburrow Woods to clear the path edges that have become overgrown. A number of members joined the path edging gang to continue the work near the Murrillo Drive entrance, sourcing the logs for the edging is taking longer as the nearby piles have been used. This was mainly done by John w and Ollie. Old rotted logs were removed to the new habitat at Moore's Lane.
The ladies went to the ditch were they have been clearing the unwanted growth and improve the flow. Another party was engaged in clearing back the over grown edges from to the paths.
At the listen up David was approached by two ladies who presented him a donation for the group, he thanked them and they enjoyed a cup of coffee with the workers. David thanked Andrea and Paul for the cakes which went down well. He then went over the work done and thank all for their efforts.
There was no Wally as he is unwell and likely to be absent for sometime so we are short of photos at this time.
Rosemary told the group that the theme for this year's calendar would be "Fruits from the woods" and asked for recipes that use edible items from the woodland area.
David told the group that the East Rushden trip has 2 spare seats, the date and time of the Red Buses trip is not confirmed because of need to MOT bus. David announced that the Snape Christmas trip has been arranged and that the work party would get first chance at the seats. He commented on the recent committee meeting and said Colin Fitt was welcomed to the committee. David is on the lookout for a new tractor and if anyone hears of one then let him know, he then went on to say that the next weeks work party will be at Foxburrow Woods to deal with the Himalayan Balsam before it gets out of control.
