We were all pleased it was a slightly cooler morning than recent mornings. A smaller group today, probably due to holidays. A lot of work was done in and around the nursery, this is now completed and looking very neat and tidy. A new bench near our coffee table was put in for the men who previously had used one of the railings to sit on while enjoying their coffee. We cut down a dead tree near the sheds to open the area up a bit. Several went to clear duck weed from the pond, including young Max. The fallen tree on Moore's lane was tidied away. The usual job of keeping path edeges clear of nettles and brambles continued, concentrating on the Stubbs Wood entrance. We had a visit from Liam from Pleasurewood Hills (with his dog Bentley) to see where we hope to put a new bench in next week.
With coffee today we had a lovely selection of cakes to celebrate Janet's birthday, it's at this time you appreciate the smaller number of workers out today !
David told the group that we would be working in Foxburrow wood on Thurs Aug 25th, clearing ditches and sweeping the boardwalks. He gave us details of the Bingo Fish & Chips evening and of the Snape Christmas outing. He also handed out emergency information to all workers and asked them to keep a copy with them while working in the wood, hopefully we will never need to use them.
