We had visitors in the wood today, Waveney Norse were there (very early) to start the heavy tree work identified in the October tree inspection. They will be working in the wood a couple of days. We also had Ben turn up (not so early), Ben is the forest school leader at a local primary school and needed some wood for den building, making rope ladders etc. Fortunately, we have an abundance of wood at the moment so we were happy to help him out with a car load! While all this was going on we still managed to get a few of our jobs crossed off the list and being holiday time we had the added bonus of Oscar and Max working with us. We did some chipping of paths, although we are now very low on chippings, hopefully there will soon be another delivery. A few went down to PwH to check on the state of the ditch, always a trouble spot, and cleared it once again. We continued path edging work, shifting logs and staking down where needed. Another week of splitting snowdrops but that's it now for this year. We planted some hollies around the "vertical log pile" to hopefully screen it off. We also put a chicane fence up at the exit from the wood into the burial park, we are thinking of putting notices on either side saying something like "You are now entering a Dogs ON Lead area, please put your dog on it's lead, thank you. GWCP" & "You are now entering a Dogs OFF Lead area. Thank you GWCP". We did mention this to a couple of dog walkers as we were working but sadly they completely ignored us and walked through the burial park with their dogs off their leads. Oh well, we can but try.
With coffee today we had a lovely varied selection of cakes from Brian and Kathy today, for their birthdays, one in March and one in May.
David reminded us of the AGM coming up on Wed 19th April at the school. He went through the work we had been doing today and the work that Waveney Norse were doing, he also mentioned a possible bus trip later in the summer. The trip would be to Southwold on the bus that Liz and James own, they did us a very enjoyable trip to Aldeburgh in the past.
