Today we had a large group clearing out the ditch, starting at the bridge at PwH's end of the main path, when that was running OK we then moved up level with the pit and started working our way down towards PwH, this will take a few weeks to complete. We had several people chipping paths, finishing off Moore's lane first, quite a walk from the pile of chippings at the main gate and it looks like we may need to get more chippings. A team were making sure the main path leading down to PwH was not overgrown as we will have heavy machinery along that section when the resurfacing work starts in October. Christine has been working for several weeks on clearing around the trees near the school fence, these were planted by the schoolchildren. She has now completed this task and we can look to replace those blackthorn/hawthorn shrubs that have not made it. Recently a tree had fallen across the disused railway path and a few men went over there to clear it, they have removed the smaller branches with saws and made sure the path is clear. We will return next Thurs with the chainsaw to clear the main trunk.
Cakes today were provided by Marion and Peter for no reason! Sadly, Marion was not there to enjoy them but we all did.
David in his “listen up” thanked Peter & Marion for the cakes. Rosemary passed around lists for forthcoming events to make sure we knew who was / wasn't coming for each event - Bingo, Snape, Lakes. David said the new shed will be delivered Wed 23rd and work will start on resurfacing the main path in early October. Sections of the path will be closed over about a week and GWCP will provided spotters to make sure users of the path know where the diversion goes.
