It seemed we were going to be low on numbers today, all the committee except Colin were away. However, slowly people appeared, chatted and then drifted off in groups to get on with something. Path edging continued from where it stopped last week, between Gunton Church Lane and Murillo Drive. Old path edging that had been stored near the coffee area was taken down to the new conservation area. The ladies were undecided for a while but ended up heading to the ditch, they did well today, clearing a section from bridge to bridge. They must really enjoy it as they were late back for coffee. Strimming path edges started today, Colin was using the new strimmer and reported that it did a superb job. Others were tackling the path edges the old fashioned way, with scythes! John and Julie were planting cowslips in Moore’s Lane, they were out earlier in the week planting knapweed – overtime?
With coffee today we had hot cheese & onion rolls and sausage rolls plus a selection of cakes all from Colin T and he wasn’t able to be here to enjoy them. They were delicious Colin!
Andrea did the listen-up today, for the first time, she started by thanking Colin for the cakes and then thanked Carol & Mo for the tea & coffees. She went through the work that had been done today and named who had been doing it. This caused a lot of laughter as most thought she said some of the men had been skiving! We eventually worked out she said “scything”. An easy mistake to make! At the end John W announced that there would be some orienteering going on in the wood and around the general area on Sunday June 23rd.
