Glorious morning this morning almost too hot to work but we did. No David today but we muddled through without him! A large group went down to the wild-flower meadow and helped rake up hedge cuttings and wheel-barrowed them away, some went to the green space near the swings to clear pathways, some down to the Gunton Church Lane end of Foxburrow to clear pathways and once again some were clearing weeds from around young trees and clearing path edges of weeds. This time of year it seems to be mainly about helping the young trees by keeping them clear of weeds and keeping the pathways clear of nettles and brambles as soon we'll have the little ones out there on their summer hols. Great excitement today as Barry announced he had found (and photographed) a pyramidal orchid. Apparently extremely rare in this area as it likes chalk soil, first one Barry has ever seen and only the second time one has been reported in Gunton!
With coffee today we had a lovely selection of cakes provided by Barbara for her birthday, which is not for some time but she's worried she may have left by then :-(
Saturday work is postponed at the moment.
