A lovely bright morning for working and we had a long list of jobs to do. We decided to cross one job off straight away! We had hoped to clean the bird boxes out before they started nesting but we were too late, they have already started. The ladies went off to clear the ditch out again (their favourite job). Roy and Terry refixed a waymark post that had been damaged in the storm. Last week we cut down and cut up several trees in the wildflower meadow that had been brought down by storm "Doris" and today a group went down with the trolley dolly to shift all the logs and do a general tidy up which included removing roots that were coming up across the path. A willow along Moore's lane had lifted in the storm and the roots had come up across the path, as we inspected it we could see that the wind today was lifting the roots higher and higher with a strong possibility the tree was going to fall very soon. We decided to cut and remove the roots and pull the tree over into the field before it fell. A group of men tidied up the area by the school fence where a large tree had fallen in the storm and had been cut up Tuesday morning - after the ladies finished in the ditch they then came and tidied the area up properly!!
With coffee today we had a lovely selection of homemade cakes from Carly, Carol's dog. We soon woofed them down!
No David today, so Janet did the "listen up". Short and sweet, she just went through what we had done today and who provided the cakes.
