Let me start today by a blatant plug for our wonderful GWCP 2019 calendar, we have just 20 left out of 220. They are just £6 each and are full of beautiful A4 size high quality photos of moths, 12 inside and a montage on the front cover of those that did not quite make the cut. They come in an A4 size reinforced envelope ready for posting if necessary.
OK, advert over, today we had dull cloudy weather but lots of sunny bright workers! The main work today was chipping paths, we had the tractor running loads down Moore's lane for chipping the Stubbs Wood entrance but we were without Colin to blow the leaves off the path for us so we had to resort to rakes. Also, we used wheelbarrows to chip paths near to the heap. Again this week we were helped by people from what was the Morton Road Youth Club, it's nice to have some new young faces among us. Now the tree inspection work is finished for GWCP in Gunton Wood, we have lots of logs for path edging. We started near the pond, replacing rotten edging with new large logs. We will continue along this path for the next few weeks until we run out of logs. Waveney Norse still have some trees to reduce or remove in the wood and we may get some more logs out of that. At the moment we need more than we have. The rotten rustic fence at the back of David's was replaced with a new rustic fence. Another piece of fencing just round the corner from David's has also rotted and collapsed and we hope to replace this very soon. Work continued on the hedge down Moore's Lane and with trimming back anything obstructing the paths.
With coffee today we had a lovely selection of cakes from the woodland fairies (aka Janet back from holiday!).
David did the "listen-up" and he started by thanking the woodland fairies for the cakes! There was a lot to get through today, he started by reminding all those on the Bury St Edmund's trip on Saturday that the coach would leave Gunton Church Lane at 9.45am SHARP! He did mention the 20 calendars left to sell, see above. There will be no workparty this Saturday because of the trip to Bury but there will be the following Saturday, Dec 1st. That will be in Foxburrow again to continue the work from the tree inspection and would probably be the last Sat wp as the tree work will be complete. Following on from that David thought that it would be good to have a small workparty in Foxburrow one Thursday as there are several jobs that need doing over there. He did mention that Pleasurewood Hills have some trees that they would like us to remove for them and hopefully we could get some more path edging from them. Finally, David had received a donation for all the contributions GWCP (Barbara, Mo, Chrissie) had made towards the Gunton News magazine over the years. Sadly, the Gunton News magazine is finishing this December.
